Lacklustre Boro Denied AGAIN Late On

Boro are making a habit of conceding goals late on which is costing the team valuable points.

The points lost make it more and more difficult to climb up the league.

Although a point yesterday did take us up the league slightly, we could be overtaken again if results go against us today.

The majority of the first half was a forgetful passage of play until Alves scored from the edge of the box following good link-up play with Stewart Downing.

You heard it right Spurs fans - Downing produced his third assist of the season in a Boro shirt.

His celebration was evidence that he wants to stay put and help his team-mates climb up the league.

The second half saw Middlesbrough defend very well late on, but still managed to concede. A last ditch tackle from Tony McMahon, after Jones had levelled the scores, kept Boro in the game and a goal line clearance from Adam Johnson made sure the match was all square at the final whistle.

Some good performances from Turnbull, again, and Downing made sure we got a point out of a very lacklustre performance at home.

The players will need to show more passion and energy against West Brom next week if we are to get any points from that game.

A point against Sunderland is not the end of the world, but the players need to up their game if they are to claim any more vital points.

we were brilliant in the first half i though but in typical boro style we got a goal and sat back and allowed them to keep coming at us which in the end was our downfall! we were lucky to get a point

I agree with you there, we were lucky to get a point at the end of the game. i don't agree with you about us being brilliant, as a whole we were poor the whole game. our coaches need to be fired, as does our manager! i can see us being relegated because of a big nosed numpty manager. i was rooting for wigan to win spurs today because its that close. not good at all.

sorry to disagree, but did turnbull make a save all match?

got to give a mention to josh 'the weed' walker as i think he was MOTM>
peterfromredcar
josh walker was good shame about the injury
boros_finest
as sir gary lineker pointed out, we would be in the top half if all matches ended after 80 mins
peterfromredcar
we're a bit like Fulham were last season
peterfromredcar
though they sacked their manager and replaced him with an experienced cockney with a good track record on the continent.
peterfromredcar

Trouble is you relax against teams and get punished for it.
