One Striker Out - One Striker In For Boro

The rumours are starting to flourish around the Riverside as the summer action begins the transfer market.

Tuncay Sanli is set to leave Teesside in the next few weeks. It is believed the Turkish striker wants to stay in England and remain a Premier League player.

Liverpool, Everton, Spurs and Blackburn are all interested in signing the Boro striker.

How much is he worth?

Middlesbrough fans would say he is our most valuable player after his performances last season. The 27-year-old scored 7 goals for Boro this season and with his hard-working attitude was awarded the fans player of the season.

I would slap a price tag of £10million on Tuncay although Premier League teams will try at something like £7million first to try and lure him off us.

So, with the inevitable loss of Tuncay we will be on the look out for a replacement striker. One name that has been mentioned this week is Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford.

The 25-year-old scored 34 goals last season and with a price-tag of around £2million he could be key ingredient to us securing promotion back to the top flight.

It will be interesting to see how quickly Gareth Southgate acts once he knows what he can spend.

bull***** Alves scored more than 30 goals in the holland legue and he was one of our worst strikers in boro history.please dont make the mistake again.
Shiha
I hear what you are saying Shiha. The good thing about this possible signing though is he is only 25 and he won't be costing us £12million!
TheSlaven
if this got linked with us if we were still a premier league team then it would be just idiotic coz the prem would just eat beckford alive, like it did with alves, but i knew it was only a matter time before beckfords name came up, i rekon he will cut it in the championship...but who with? we have the advantage 1) money 2) young english players 3) a hell of a chance to go straight back up, this could be the guy were lookin for...
BoRoLaD88
id say he's around 3/4 million mark...
BoRoLaD88
i think he is worth a punt

7 goals in a season = 10mil....the author of this must be on drugs....darren bent will prob go this summer for 10mil and he scored17!
lillywhites101
yeh but you put his work ethic into account, dnt see bent running about for 90mins oh...yeah...he has never done 90mins since being at spurs hmm, tuncay or bent for 10mill ask anybody n they will more than likely snatch ya hand off for tunny at that price!
BoRoLaD88
tuncay is a class player. but to scare a goal then you need someone to give you an assist (unless you dribble the whole pitch) and THAT is why he only scored seven. i admit it, we had no creativity in midfeild to supply him.

lillysavage gomes is awfu cost 8 million how does that work then
TimBoro
I will tell you haow iy works,Tim Boro. When we purchased Gomes he was Brazil's no1 and a legend in holland and he has been brilliant in the second half of the season. his shot stopping is brilliant. He has proved to be bargain for 8 million. We have only conceeded 10 goals at home all season. thats the lowest in the league. gomes has been superb. As soon as he made a couple of mistakes early in the season the media and people start calling him a clown. I can tell you that he is one of the best shot stoppers in the world. He does make a few errors in judgement but that is because he is the only keeper in the whole league to have balls to come and catch or punch the ball far of his line
