Our 21-year-old winger is getting interest from a whole host of clubs from England and Spain.
Manchester United are the latest team to consider making a move for the left-footed winger.
Johnson has recently turned down an extension on his contract to stay at the Riverside it seems relegation has come at the worst time for the player who is keen to establish himself on the main stage of football week in week out.
I can see why Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in Johnson because he has pace and skill with tremendous energy. I am guessing Ferguson is looking at replacing Ryan Giggs soon and AJ would fit the bill.
The Middlesbrough chiefs are in a bit of a pickle over this one because they obviously want to keep hold of their best player, but if we don't sell him this summer he could end up leaving next summer for free.
Johnson has one more year left on his contract so Southgate will have to make a very tough decision.
Rumours are circulating that United will offer around £6million for Johnson. I think he has potential to be a world class player and that figure should rise if we play our card's right.
He is a top player and I am sure all the Boro fans would love him to stay, but Gibson is running a tight ship now and we need to accept that players have to be sold.
