Halliday set to sign

Gordon Strachan certainly isn't wasting any time in his promise to turn things around at Middlesbrough, having reportedly agreed a deal for Livingston winger Andy Halliday.

The Scot views Halliday as a potential long-term replacement for the departed Adam Johnson, whose new club Manchester City were also understood to be monitoring the Livingston forward, in addition to Glasgow giants Rangers and Celtic and Boro's local rivals Sunderland.

But it looks as though the Teessiders have won the race for the talented 19-year-old, who has already been shown around Boro's training headquarters and appears set to sign for a fee of around £100,000, plus possible add-ons.

Halliday has already helped Livingston to the Scottish Third Division title this season, scoring fourteen goals in 27 starts and 10 substitute appearances.
