Celtic fall out of Hooper race
Celtic have fallen out of the race to sign Scunthorpe United hit-man Gary Hooper according to latest reports, which could leave the way clear for a move to Middlesbrough.
The former Southend United striker has scored more than fifty goals for the Glanford Park club over the past couple of seasons to promote considerable interest in his services from elsewhere.
Boro boss Gordon Strachan was already a known admirer and soon jumped into the race to sign him before being rivalled by his former employers Celtic.
However, the 22-year-old has since stated that he is not interested in a move north of the border.
Scunthorpe are expecting to receive a fee of around £2m for his services, which has in turn created a delay in any deal being completed.
He originally joined the Iron in a £175,000 move two years ago, but such has been his goalscoring prowess that his valuation has seriously rocketed.
