Boro to hold Arca talks
Middlesbrough will hold talks with midfielder Julio Arca over a new contract as his current one is due to expire in the summer.
The 30-year-old Argentine has already stated he wants to remain on Teesside after seven goals in 140 games since arriving from Sunderland in July 2006.
"There's a lot of talking to be done, but that should be done behind closed doors," manager Tony Mowbray told BBC Tees. "When it's right to do that with Julio we'll have that conversation."
There had been serious doubts that Arca would actually be staying at the Riverside.
"The quotes have probably come about after the Crystal Palace game," Mowbray added. "I was asked about Julio and I gave my thoughts.
"I said he might have been the best player on the pitch and controlled the match, but there was a fair chance he wouldn't be here next year, because of our situation and Julio's salary levels."
