Boro fail in winger bid
Middlesbrough have missed out in an approach for in-demand Bristol Rovers winger Mustapha Carayol.
The 22-year-old has acquired a number of admirers since impressing at Rovers following his move from Lincoln City last summer.
Two of them, Boro and Barnsley, have reportedly since submitted bids that were rejected. The Tykes, in particular, are said to be long-term admirers and had an earlier offer turned down in January.
Both Derby County and promoted Sheffield Wednesday have similarly been recently linked with the former also understood to have tabled an unsuccessful offer last week.
Meanwhile, Rovers are keen to retain his services and have already begun talks over a new deal.
