Boro miss out on Belgian
Belgian youngster Florent Cuvelier is the latest to turn down a move to Middlesbrough in favour of a new contract at Stoke City, according to latest reports.
But the nineteen-year-old midfielder could still find himself on loan at the Riverside next season. He originally arrived at Stoke from financially-stricken Portsmouth back in 2010. At the time, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham were similarly interested.
The Belgium Under-21 international spent the end of last season on loan at Walsall, where he grabbed four goals in eighteen appearances. He was out of contract at the Britannia Stadium this summer.
"Florent is happy to have everything completed, despite interest from elsewhere," confirmed his agent Alex Levack to Sky Sports. "He sees his long-term future at Stoke and is now looking to get out on loan in the Championship and work his way back into the Belgium Under-21 team. He has proved himself at League One level and now wants to do the same in the Championship."
