Keeper still on target
Middlesbrough goalkeeper Jason Steele remains on course to play at the London Olympics after surviving the cut for Team GB.
The England Under-21 international was amongst the 80 names originally selected and that list was then reduced to 35 by coach Stuart Pearce on Friday. It is understood Steele remains in real contention for the eighteen-man squad.
A final decision on the group must be reached by 6th July. David Beckham, Craig Bellamy and Ryan Giggs are all expected to be included as over-aged players.
"It would be an honour to play in the Olympics," Steele said in the Northern Echo. "I just have to keep myself right and hope I will play. It would be fantastic."
