Boro expecting but arrival delayed

Middlesbrough's move for Argentine playmaker Emmanuel Ledesma could be delayed by the imminent arrival of his baby.

The 24-year-old midfielder is currently back home in Buenos Aires but due to fly in for a medical at Rockliffe Park once his partner gives birth.

Boro had hoped for the deal to be completed by the start of pre-season training on Thursday. However, manager Tony Mowbray still remains confident of finalising it and is therefore prepared to wait.

Meanwhile, another player almost certain to sign is former Boro defender Stuart Parnaby, who has recently been training with the club.

Parnaby, 29, is currently a free agent after being released by Birmingham City a year ago and should put pen to paper inside the next forty-eight hours.

Boro are currently without a recognised right-back as Justin Hoyte and Tony McMahon are both out of contract.
