Striker blow for Boro
Middlesbrough striker Lukas Jutkiewicz has been ruled out of action for up to eight weeks after undergoing surgery.
The 23-year-old needed to have a "cartilage trimmed" and will miss the start of the new season. He could actually be ruled out for as many as half-a-dozen games, including four in the league.
Jutkiewicz has to date netted three times in twenty-one appearances since joining Boro from Coventry City in January.
"He may miss the very start of the season," manager Tony Mowbray confirmed to Boro's official website. "But we would hope to have him available again soon after that."
His absence would though at least allow Scott McDonald the opportunity to re-establish himself in the side.
