Keeper trial for Boro
Middlesbrough are ready to give a trial to free agent and former Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Ben Smith.
The 25-year-old is also interesting Paulo Di Canio, manager at promoted League One newcomers Swindon Town.
Smith was released from Shrewsbury at the end of last season after earlier spells at Stockport County, Doncaster Rovers, Lincoln City and Morecambe.
Boro are currently looking for cover following the departure of the experienced Danny Coyne and were expected to run the rule over several candidates.
