Boro welcome new Friend
Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Doncaster Rovers defender George Friend.
The 24-year-old agreed a three-year deal with the Teessiders and can provide options for them in the middle of defence or at left-back.
He becomes their sixth summer recruit and follows Grant Leadbitter, Stuart Parnaby, Christian Burgess, Jonathan Woodgate and Emmanuel Ledesma to the Riverside.
Boro said they saw off competition from two other Championship clubs to secure the highly-rated former Exeter City player.
"I think George will be a good signing for us. He's a versatile player who can play at centre-half and left-back," manager Tony Mowbray told Boro's official website. "He's very athletic and very mobile and has all the attributes you look for in a player."
