Boro complete win double

Middlesbrough completed their second 2-1 pre-season victory over the weekend against neighbours York City at Bootham Crescent.

Moroccan international Merouane Zemmama claimed a late winner for the visitors after Scott McDonald's opener was cancelled out by a second-half Jamie Reed penalty.

Luke Williams also hit the woodwork and Andy Halliday and Adam Reach were both denied by York goalkeeper Michael Ingham.

Boro included Spanish Primera Liga trialist keeper Jacobo Sanz while ex-England international Jonathan Woodgate also marked his return.

But it was Aussie striker McDonald heading in Emmanuel Ledesma's cross for the lead midway through the opening half.

The Minstermen equalised with eighteen minutes remaining after ex-Darlington midfielder John McReady was brought down inside the area and Reed struck home his penalty.

Boro responded and substitute Zemmama then found a late winner with a low drive from the edge of the area that went in off the post.
