Dutch dilemma for Mowbray
Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray would like to bring Dutch winger Romeo Castelen back to the Riverside.
The 29-year-old appeared on trial for the Teessiders in the recent friendlies against Hartlepool United and Carlisle United before returning home. However, those games only highlighted a general lack of match fitness, which left Mowbray struggling to properly assess his full potential.
"He's gone back to Holland but I think he'll be coming back for a week or so," Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. "He's a very experienced, talented player who hasn't played much football recently. It's just whether we give him that platform to get fit because he has undoubted talent.
"So there's a fair chance he might be coming back to train with us for a week or two and see if we can get him up to speed," he added.
Castelen is currently a free agent but has already played for the Dutch national team, in addition to Hamburg and Feyenoord after beginning his career at Den Haag.
