Focus remains on league
Former England international Jonathan Woodgate insists the Championship remains the absolute priority of Middlesbrough this season.
Boro were this week paired with an away trip to Gillingham in the Capital One Cup after knocking out League One side Bury last weekend.
However, it is the continuing chase to regain their Premier League status that is unsurprisingly right at the forefront of the 32-year-old Middlesbrough-born centre-back's mind.
"The league's our bread and butter," Woodgate told the Evening Gazette. "We're going to make a push for promotion because we want to try and get into the Premiership this season - that's the aim."
Ex-Real Madrid defender Woodgate and his colleagues will be making the long trip to Kent on either the 28th or 29th August.
Before that Boro have some vital league games to deal with against the likes of Barnsley, Burnley and Crystal Palace.
