Bailey blow for Boro

Midfielder Nicky Bailey has been ruled out of this weekend's home game with Crystal Palace.

Bailey actually opened the scoring for Boro in the 3-2 midweek victory over Burnley with an excellent long-distance effort.

However, a subsequent hamstring injury is set to keep the former Charlton Athletic enforcer out of action for between four and six weeks.

Meanwhile, Scottish international Kevin Thomson is still on the way back from a recent calf problem.

"Nicky's got a hamstring injury and will be out for four to six weeks," manager Tony Mowbray confirmed to Boro's official website. "Obviously with Kevin probably just a week away at most, it leaves us a little bit light in this area."

Richie Smallwood could step in as a replacement at the weekend while Marvin Emnes and recent signing Mustapha Carayol were both due to return to training on Friday.
