Winger hopes for return

Recent signing Mustapha Carayol is looking to continue the form shown in his first couple of appearances for Middlesbrough.

The 24-year-old has so far been restricted to involvement in the Capital One Cup ties at Bury and Gillingham.

However, the former Bristol Rovers winger showed well in both games despite having to recover from a hamstring problem at Bury and then a knee injury against the Gills.

Therefore the international break probably came at a decent time for Carayol, who is hopeful of inclusion in the squad against Ipswich Town at the weekend.

"I've been struggling a bit with my hamstrings," he explained to the Northern Echo. "I'd only had three proper training sessions before that Gillingham game so it was nice to get back and get some minutes under my belt. Hopefully I'll be ready whenever called upon next time."
