Mowbray just glad to come through

Manager Tony Mowbray was simply grateful for the win as Middlesbrough completed a third straight victory against Ipswich Town at the Riverside.

Boro were actually pressed back for long stages by their visitors who enjoyed plenty of possession during the second-half in particular.

However, goals in each half from Luke Williams and Mustapha Carayol were enough to make it nine points from an available fifteen as the hosts completed a 2-0 victory.

"You have to learn how to win convincingly and the second goal gives you some breathing space," Mowbray told Boro's official website. "We got the second goal very late because they were gambling so many men forward. If you're realistic we could have won at Millwall and Barnsley but we could have lost games at home as well - it's been very, very tight."

Their success at least sets Boro up nicely for a couple of tough looking away games at high-flying duo Blackpool and Blackburn Rovers over the next week.
