Boro expecting some friendly fire
Summer arrival George Friend can offer Middlesbrough plenty at both ends of the pitch according to manager Tony Mowbray.
The £100,000 recruit from Doncaster Rovers has already shown a real willingness to attack from left-back and is being tipped by Mowbray to supply his fair share of goals and assists.
As an added bonus Friend can also feature in the middle of defence and is noted as strong in the challenge.
"He has been showing his worth running forward and threatening the opposition on crosses," Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. "I hope he can be an outlet for us with assists and I think he will score some goals as well.
"You can see he is very brave in the air and he attacks the ball with full aggression," he added.
