Goal-hero lucky to play
Goal-hero Lukas Jutkiewicz said he was fortunate to play in Middlesbrough's morale-boosting 2-1 win at leaders Blackburn Rovers on Friday evening.
The 23-year-old returned for his first start since medial ligament surgery in the summer and immediately struck twice as the visitors
turned around their recent poor away form at Ewood Park.
However, Jutkiewicz revealed he was only in the starting eleven after recent loan signing Ishmael Miller suffered a slight injury ahead of the contest.
"It looked like I was going to be on the bench again but Ishmael felt his groin a bit in training and so the manager gave me the nod," Jutkiewicz told the Evening Gazette. "I suppose it was lucky I played but that's football. You have to work hard to put pressure on whoever has the shirt and force your way into the manager's plans and when you get your chance you have to take it."
