'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Defender so thrilled on Boro comeback

Defender Stuart Parnaby is enjoying his recent rebirth at Middlesbrough following a long spell out of the game.

The 30-year-old spent the whole of last season without a club after being released by Birmingham City at the end of the previous season.

He finally rejoined Boro over the summer and made his return to action in the midweek Capital One Cup victory at Preston North End.

"It's been a year and a half I've waited for the chance to play a competitive game, I'm just buzzing. It's a big relief," Parnaby told the Northern Echo. "Once I got going I didn't really think about it.

"I know it will take time to get to the level I once was and Tuesday was a step towards that," he added. "I got 90 minutes, felt good and did myself justice. I'm just chuffed to be involved at the minute at a football club - especially back at Middlesbrough, which is a big thing for me."
