Striker blow for Boro

Striker blow for Boro

Middlesbrough have received another injury setback with striker Lukas Jutkiewicz expected to be ruled out.

The 23-year-old has suffered a knee injury while training and is to undergo scans to determine whether he needs minor surgery.

Jutkiewicz has managed only four starts this season since recovering from a recent operation on the other knee due to ligament damage. The £1.5m signing from Coventry City did though score four times in six games upon his return.

However, Boro manager Tony Mowbray was hoping that fellow forward Ishmael Miller will have recovered from a groin injury in time for the weekend visit to Brighton.

But there are still doubts over Marvin Emnes, who has been allowed to return home to Holland during the international break and carried a bruised foot in the recent win at Watford.

Middlesbrough succumbed to a solitary first-half strike from Crystal Palace's Patrick van Aanholt at Selhurst Park.

Wilfried Zaha struck across the target from a narrow angle as the home side began strongly while Christian Benteke headed straight at goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Marten de Roon replied over the crossbar at the other end before van Aanholt dril
