Mowbray praises outgoing defender
Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray praised defender Stephen McManus after allowing him to rejoin Bristol City on loan.
The 30-year-old has agreed a three-month deal at Ashton Gate and could make it permanent during the next transfer window in January. He also enjoyed a similar spell there last season.
Although his contract is up at the end of the season, McManus has continued to work hard behind the scenes at the Riverside despite not being part of Mowbray's first-team plans.
"Stephen has worked extremely hard - talk about wanting to be part of our team - he's been doing some fabulous work behind the scenes," Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. "He's a very experienced player who wants to play and I don't want to hold him back in his career."
