Mowbray rules out Ipswich return

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has ruled out any prospects of a return to Ipswich Town to take their vacant managerial job.

The 48-year-old Mowbray's name has inevitably been linked ever since the departure of Paul Jewell from Portman Road last week.

He previously scored for them during their play-off final victory against Barnsley at Wembley and later became first-team coach and in turn caretaker manager following the dismissal of George Burley just over a decade ago.

"In my opinion I've got the best job in the world at the moment," Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. "Ipswich is a lovely club, I met my wife in Ipswich, I love the area and it's a fabulous football club. It's sad to see where they are at the moment.

"But I have no interest in the job and have had no thoughts about it," he admitted. "I'm quite happy to be ruled out of the reckoning."
