Squad depth is Boro's strength

Middlesbrough midfielder Grant Leadbitter believes a strong squad at the Riverside has really helped them cope with a serious injury list.

Boro have managed to overcome the ongoing loss of a number of key players to rise into second place in the Championship in recent weeks, as well as progressing towards the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.

"We've had so many injuries," Leadbitter explained to BBC Tees. "Some teams have six or seven good players, whereas we've got a squad full who can step in and play well.

"There's many leaders in this team, a group of five or six of could all have the armband," he added. "There's leaders in the dressing room, a will to win in the dressing room and on the training ground."
