Mowbray thanks fans
Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray praised the supporters after going top of the table with a 3-1 defeat of Sheffield Wednesday.
Boro's biggest crowd for more than three years watched on as defender Justin Hoyte earned their side an early lead.
But Gary Madine equalised after the break and the visitors threatened to take charge until strikes from Ishmael Miller and Lukas Jutkiewicz put the home side back in charge.
"For 10 or 15 minutes Wednesday threatened to take control but the supporters stuck with us and their backing made all the difference," Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. "The fact that there was such a large crowd in the stadium helped us overcome the hurdle in front of us.
"It was great to have such a big crowd to support us. I have to say a big thank you to all the supporters who came - including the season ticket holders of course," he continued. "The supporters have hopefully gone home happy having seen their team going top of the table after what was an entertaining game."
