Striker feared for game

Middlesbrough goalscorer Ishmael Miller had visions of the weekend defeat to Bristol City being abandoned.

A lingering fog had already enveloped the Riverside by kick-off but it grew even more dense at the contest continued.

The 25-year-old still managed to find his third goal for the club since arriving on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest in August - although his side were to eventually suffer a 3-1 reversal.

"The fog was getting really bad out there and it was hard to see what was happening at the other end of the pitch and at one stage I seriously wondered if it would get called off," Miller told the Evening Gazette. "I thought it was a real possibility. I said to one of their players: 'if it gets any worse we are going off here'. But we didn't and as soon as they scored the fog lifted."

Boro are straight back in action at home to Championship newcomers Huddersfield Town tomorrow evening.
