Boro boss praises energy providers

Tony Mowbray labelled it as a "high-energy" performance as Middlesbrough accounted for Huddersfield Town 3-0 at the Riverside on Tuesday evening.

Striker Scott McDonald kept up his recent hot streak with a brace added to by Argentine Emmanuel Ledesma in a perfect response to successive defeats.

Boro had earlier recalled both Richard Smallwood and Nicky Bailey while Andy Halliday performed well in an unfamiliar left-back role.

"It was a high-energy performance," Mowbray told BBC Tees. "Players like Richie Smallwood and Nicky Bailey were anxious to do well and they added drive and zest.

"Richie Smallwood came in and gave us a more defensive mind in the middle of the pitch and Nicky Bailey did the same," he added. "I've never had any fears about playing Andy. He's decent with the ball, but he needs to work on that right foot. At times he showed what an attacking threat he could be and was very solid defensively."
