Goalscorer praises young guns
In-form striker Scott McDonald praised the contributions of his young team-mates after Middlesbrough returned to winning ways in midweek.
The 29-year-old increased his own tally this season to seven goals in eleven games by claiming a double in the 3-0 home victory against Huddersfield Town.
However, he was still quick to lavish praise on fringe players Andy Halliday and Richard Smallwood after making their first league starts of the season.
"I thought Andy and Richie both had superb games," McDonald told the Evening Gazette. "Richie was fantastic, especially in the first half. He saw a lot of the ball in an inside left position and caused them all
sorts of problems.
"And Andy has only been converted to a left-back over the last six or eight months and he has really adapted to it," he continued. "He's a great athlete, he's got pace, good feet, he can beat a man and he has an instinct to get forward down the flank."
