Strength in numbers for Boro

Middlesbrough midfielder Grant Leadbitter remains sure his club will continue to cope despite a seemingly ever-growing injury list.

Boro currently have concerns over the likes of Faris Haroun, Andre Bikey, Jonathan Woodgate, Seb Hines and Andy Halliday while Rhys Williams, Mustapha Carayol, Curtis Main and Julio Arca have all been long-term absentees this season.

Meanwhile, Leadbitter was also hoping to have recovered from his own hamstring complaint following the narrow Capital One Cup defeat at Swansea City in midweek.

However, the 26-year-old former Sunderland and Ipswich Town playmaker reckons there is still plenty of available strength in depth at the Riverside.

"I look at Richie Smallwood in training, who works hard," Leadbitter told the Northern Echo. "Then there's Kevin Thomson, he is working to get in the team and is a top player waiting for a chance.

"Kevin wants to play for this club, as do all of the many players and we need different players to come in at different times to get us promoted," he added. "When we have a group of players wanting that then that bodes well for the club."

However, on loan Calum Chambers soon restored the home advantage, only for Gabriel Jesus to equalise again just before the end.
