Boro going up - Woodgate

Boro going up - Woodgate

Former England defender Jonathan Woodgate believes Middlesbrough are still well on course for promotion.

Boro are currently in third place in the table with the season moving towards its halfway point and just ahead of the traditionally busy festive period.

However, Woodgate, 32, who returned to his hometown club in the summer following a four-year absence, claims he is yet to come across a side as good as his own during the current campaign.

"We are going up," he told the Evening Gazette. "I think we are the best team in the league and I think we'll go up. And I'm confident of that. I think we'll go up. Honestly.

"Some people might not believe that and that's fair enough, but for me, this team has showed it has what it takes," Woodgate insisted. "We've played most of the teams now and to be honest, I haven't seen a team better than us. Seriously."
