Boro on target - Mowbray

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray remains satisfied with the progress of his new-look squad so far this season.

Boro are busily fuelling themselves another promotion challenge after narrowly missing out on the play-offs at the end of their previous campaign.

The Teessiders currently sit in third place in the table and just three points short of leaders Cardiff City ahead of their weekend visit to near neighbours Leeds United.

"We are in touch," Mowbray told Sky Sports. "There have been plenty of opportunities that have slipped through our fingers, really, where we could have picked up more points, but we would probably have taken where we sit at the moment at the start of the season when we were putting together a new team."
