Mowbray wants positive reaction
Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has urged striker Marvin Emnes to use the recent adverse reaction of the supporters as a spur over the remaining months of the season.
The Dutchman was booed from the pitch when being replaced during the narrow weekend FA Cup victory against League Two Aldershot Town at
Emnes has regularly failed to find the kind of levels shown last season and has started just four of the last ten league games. He missed a late penalty in the crucial recent loss at Leicester City.
"He set his own standards last year and scored 18 goals, which was wonderful for us," Mowbray told the Northern Echo. "Now, he has to find that confidence from within. I'll try to give him that confidence by picking him to play, but if the crowd show their displeasure to him, he has to have broad enough shoulders to use that as a motivation."
