Mowbray calls on spirit

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray believes team-spirit within the squad at the Riverside will help reinvigorate their promotion challenge.

That has certainly faltered of late with four straight league defeats and no Championship victory since the end of December.

Sixth-placed Boro have as a result rather slipped off the pace in terms of challenging the outright leaders, but are still only six points short of an automatic promotion spot.

Next up for the Teessiders come successive home games against Yorkshire opposition in Barnsley and Leeds United.

"We have to dig deep, we have to stick together," Mowbray told BBC Tees. "The only way to turn it round, with the opportunity of two home games, is through hard work."
