'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Let's end this run - Mowbray

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray expects his side to relaunch their promotion challenge ahead of successive home games over the next week.

Struggling Boro entertain Barnsley at the weekend before then hosting their Yorkshire rivals Leeds United next Tuesday evening. Following those is a crucial visit to fellow promotion challengers Crystal Palace.

Mowbray has recently seen his faltering side suffer four straight league defeats to Derby County, Watford, Leicester City and Ipswich Town while slipping further off the pace in the table.

"I think you can call it a wobble now," he admitted to the Evening Gazette. "It's four games now - there were two cup wins thrown in there - but yes, four league defeats: that's a wobble.

"We're all frustrated because coming out of Christmas we were all very much focused on the top two automatic places," Mowbray continued. "We've given ourselves a real challenge now to get anywhere near that.

"We still want to do that and we still believe we can do that but we've got to find some real consistency."
