'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Keep it going says Mowbray

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray was hoping their welcome victory over leaders Cardiff City can be the springboard to an improved run until the end of the season.

Recent arrivals Kieron Dyer and Sammy Ameobi were both on target as Boro won in the league for the first time since New Year's Day courtesy of a 2-1 triumph at the Riverside.

"We were looking over the precipice and we had to start winning football matches again if we are going to achieve our ambition of at least reaching the play-offs," Mowbray told Boro's official website. "We've been in the top six all year apart from the last week and it hurts the players and the staff.

"What's important is that we keep picking up points," he warned. "We got back to winning ways and we did today and we have to maintain it."

Boro are next in action at when visiting Huddersfield Town in midweek before then travelling to Bristol City.
