Relief for Mowbray

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray admitted it was a huge relief after completing a 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest at the Riverside.

Boro are still just about in play-off contention due to Mustapha Carayol claiming the only goal of the contest just before the break. That finally brought them a long overdue third league success this year.

It leaves the home side still in tenth position in the table and six points short of sixth-placed Leicester City with now only three games of the season remaining.

"I would be lying if I said it wasn't a relief, we could have had more if we had picked a better pass, been more clinical," Mowbray told BBC Sport. "We were resolute and we got the job done against a very powerful Nottingham Forest side.

"Last year we lacked someone like Mustapha Carayol, who could go past people with pace, and I was just sorry that he was out for five months earlier in the season," he added. "He had had to learn the physicality of the game but is getting there now."
