'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We must finish strong says midfielder

Middlesbrough midfielder Richie Smallwood says it's important his side end their season on a high following the severe disappointment of once again missing out on the play-offs.

Boro are currently languishing right in the middle of the table despite their earlier promise and next entertain Charlton Athletic this coming weekend before finishing their campaign at Sheffield Wednesday seven days later.

"We've got one home game and one away game and we've got to try and go out on a high and give the fans something to cheer about because they haven't had much over the last few months," Smallwood admitted to the Northern Echo. "Hopefully we can get six points from our final two games and come back flying next season.

"It would stand us in good stead going into the summer with some good results and hopefully that can persuade the fans to come out next season and support us and we can try and make it a good year."
