Mowbray angered by Boro display

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray was left sympathising with the frustration of supporters following the 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic in the final home game of the season.

It actually required a late equaliser from substitute Scott McDonald with his thirteenth goal of the season to add to Marvin Emnes' 76th minute reply after the home side found themselves trailing by two-goals at the break. The result finally ended the slim play-off hopes of their visitors.

"I can understand the fans' frustrations," Mowbray told BBC Sport. "We built up their expectations in the first half of the season and have let them down in the second.

"And I was angry today. Maybe there wasn't a lot riding on the game for us but I told them it was the last home match and I expected a display," he continued. "With respect, in my opinion we should be beating teams like Charlton here at our place. And the fans think so too."
