Loan option again considered

Loan option again considered

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray will once again take the loan route next season if required.

Boro have already been served by the likes of Josh McEachran, Ishmael Miller and Sammy Ameobi over recent months, although all have since returned to their parent clubs even though their current deals don't actually expire until after the final game of the campaign.

However, despite none of those perhaps making the kind of overall impact that Mowbray would really have wanted, he won't be averse to copying such as Hull City, Watford and Bolton Wanderers and exploring the loan market again.

"You speak to big clubs, they want to take their young players on pre-season with them to the United States, China or wherever they are going," Mowbray explained to the Northern Echo. "They want to give them a taste of the first team and then send them out on loan, but by then we will have started our season, probably had two matches.

"Ideally we would get what we want done over the summer and when we go back to training on June 24 we have the new players and the loan players are here for the whole year," he added,

Two players definitely not returning to the Riverside next season are Stephen McManus and Kieron Dyer, who have both been informed they are surplus to requirements.
