Crucial summer admits Mowbray
Tony Mowbray admitted Middlesbrough's promotion chances next season are dependent on how successfully he can recruit over the summer.
Boro achieved their lowest league placing in more than two decades this time around after their campaign totally collapsed following the turn of the year. The Teessiders managed only twelve points from the 63 on offer while winning just three times during that period.
"Ultimately the squad hasn't been strong enough to sustain our push for the play-offs," Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. "We've fallen away, you can't hide that fact. We've finished in the bottom half of the table and it`s been frustrating for us.
"Looking ahead, we have to be stronger as a group regarding the players who come in," he warned. "We have to build a stronger squad through the summer and how we do that is never easy because we are four full seasons out of the Premier League."
