Boro track midfielder

Middlesbrough are being linked with a move for free-scoring Burton Albion midfielder Jacques Maghoma.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the Pirelli Stadium but the Brewers remain keen to hold onto one of their brightest talents and have already offered him fresh terms.

However, their recent failure to earn promotion through the play-offs could signal his departure - with Middlesbrough said to be leading the chase.

Boro manager Tony Mowbray is understood to have been impressed with the Congolese-born one-time Tottenham Hotspur trainee during the recent play-off semi-final first-leg against Bradford City.

Maghoma scored eighteen times in 50 appearances for Burton this season and proved a regular focus of attention for Boro's scouts.
