Boss delighted to progress

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka was delighted to make progress in the Capital One Cup.

Striker Lee Tomlin scored twice and Bradley Fewster was also on target in a 3-1 victory against Preston North End.

"The main thing is getting through," Karanka told Boro's official website. "I wasn't happy at half-time, but I'm happy with the second half and happy that we got through.

"We got through to the next round and it's a very important competition," he added. "Preston worked hard and made it difficult for us. I liked them because they kept fighting, even right at the end."
