Caretaker boss has forward vision

Middlesbrough caretaker boss Steve Agnew has spoken of a "clear view" of how the club can avoid relegation.

The 51-year-old replaced the departing Aitor Karanka on Thursday with the Teessiders currently three points from safety with eleven games remaining.

That followed a sequence of ten league fixtures without a victory and just nineteen goals scored in the Premier League this season.

"I'm capable of drip-feeding ideas into the group that will pay dividends," Agnew told BBC Sport. "I have a clear view of exactly what's needed and that's what I aim to deliver - I do believe we will stay in the Premier League.

"It would be the biggest single achievement of my life - I'm capable of delivering it, the players are capable of delivering it."

Boro next host Manchester United at the Riverside in a midday kick-off on Sunday.
