Boro remain hopeful on deals

Middlesbrough are still working on completing deals ahead of their training camp in Portugal next week.

Manager Garry Monk remains hopeful of securing Norwich City midfielder Jonny Howson in a £5m move, reports the Northern Echo. Howson, 29, has already turned down the offer of a new deal at Carrow Road.

Meanwhile, Boro have recently switched their focus to Derby County full-back Cyrus Christie following fellow defender Chris Gunter signing a new three-year contract at Reading.

The Teessiders also know they must exceed the £8m rejected offered from Burnley for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombolonga.
