Defender leaves Boro

Middlesbrough defender Bernardo Espinosa has moved to Spanish second division outfit Girona.

The 27-year-old Colombian joined Boro from Sporting Gijon just over a year ago, but due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury didn't manage his senior debut until facing Manchester United in December.

He made fifteen appearances in total for the Teessiders, with the final of those coming against Burnley in April.

Bernardo previously featured more than seventy times for Sevilla's 'B' team, while also having a loan stay at Racing de Santander.
