January PotM Nomination - Ayala (Middlesbrough)

The January nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:

Daniel Ayala (Middlesbrough) - central defender
Three headed goals in four matches is a haul of which most strikers would be proud. Ayala managed it while coming up for corners. He was equally dominant in his own penalty area as Boro kept two clean sheets in the month.

Scott Hogan (Aston Villa) - striker
With the niggling injuries finally behind him, the darting 25-year-old showed what he could do with four goals in four games. He allied predatory instincts and sharp movement to score the opening goal in three of Villa`s victories.

James Maddison (Norwich City) - midfielder
Oozes confidence and sees shooting opportunities that others don`t. It helps that he can strike the ball so cleanly, as he did for three winning goals in January, against Millwall and Bristol City, as well as out of nothing at Brentford.

Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham) - full-back/midfielder
Flitting between left-back and the left side of midfield, sometimes in the same match, is no problem for the precocious 17-year-old. Has an uncanny feel for where the ball will drop in the area, as witnessed by his six goals in four games.

Winners will be announced on Friday 9th February 2018.
