Arguably the most interesting and exciting name to be linked to the club in the last week has been that of Milan Baros.

The ex-Liverpool and Aston Villa striker is currently out-of-favour at Lyon under Alain Perrin, and is believed to want a move to ensure himself a place in the Czech Republic's Euro 2008 squad.

However, 'Boro boss Gareth Southgate is believed to be wary at his chances of signing Baros, believing Lyon will not be prepared to let him leave after their progression in the UEFA Champions League.

Another name that has constantly been brought up in connection with a January move to the Riverside is Nicolae Dica. The Steaua Bucharest striker is available for a cut-price £3.5m as his contract expires in the summer.
