Third straight win for Boro

Middlesbrough registered a third straight victory against ten-man Reading at the Riverside.

Albert Adomah fired them in front on twelve minutes and Grant Leadbitter increased their advantage before the break.

The Royals then had defender Kaspars Gorkss sent-off early in the second-half and Leadbitter duly added his second from the penalty spot inside the final ten minutes.

Marvin Emnes tried an early deflected effort and Emmanuel Ledesma's cross was turned wide by Leadbitter; until Boro went ahead when Lukas Jutkiewicz nodded down another Ledesma delivery and Adomah volleyed low into the corner.

Reading keeper Alex McCarthy then denied Ledesma's 25-yard free-kick and Jutkiewicz could only find the side-netting with his follow-up.

However, it required a fine stop from on loan goalkeeper Shay Given to thwart fellow loanee Billy Sharp at the other end.

Ledesma went close to another with an effort over the crossbar before McCarthy was required to save from Emnes on a couple of separate occasions.

Boro added their second goal nine minutes from the break when Leadbitter struck low past McCarthy after receiving from Ledesma.

Reading suffered a further blow seven minutes after the interval when the already cautioned Gorkss was sent-off for fouling Ledesma.

Emnes soon drove wide and substitute Curtis Main headed over, until Ledesma was brought down by Alex Pearce and Leadbitter sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot with eight minutes remaining.

The visitors responded and Given stretched to keep out Daniel Williams from distance before Main forced further work for McCarthy at the opposite end.
